It takes a village to raise a child

The School Business Community Partnership Brokers Program, known as the Partnership Brokers (PB) Program, is a new program provided by GetSet with funding from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

Drawing from the experience working in and with communities, the staff will broker partnerships to foster a strategic, whole-of-community approach that supports young people's learning and development.

PB@GetSet is pleased to welcome Frank Valenzisi as Executive Officer and Partnership Broker and Jeanine Bird as a Partnership Broker. Frank and Jeanine are keen to work with industry, schools (both primary and secondary) and the community in developing sustainable partnerships to assist young people realise their true potential.

PB@GetSet will work with four key groups - education and training providers, business and industry, parents and families, and community groups - to improve education outcomes and ensure students remain engaged with education and make a successful transition from secondary school.

Partnership Brokers are not expected to work directly with young people, but to build relationships between key stakeholders that enable them to identify the needs of young people, make classroom learning more meaningful, improve education outcomes and assist young people to make a successful transition to further education or training and work.

As Partnership Brokers, PB@GetSet will work to create links between existing services, community groups and industry networks to create sustainable partnerships that enrich young people’s learning and improve opportunities available for them in their local area. The program builds on the understanding that support for young people is the collective responsibility of governments, education and training providers, business and industry as well as parents and families, and the broader community.
