What is a school based apprenticeship or traineeship?
A school based apprenticeship or school based traineeship is a career trajectory that helps students in years 10, 11, or 12 train towards a recognised qualification in career fields like electrotechnology, plumbing, automotive, cabinetry, office administration, information technology, or hospitality, while completing their high school education.
Students participating in a school based traineeship or apprenticeship programs get the best of both worlds. They are able to complete their high school education, and work in the industry they plan on pursuing a career in upon completion. While on the job, they are able to put to use the skills they are learning through their apprenticeship or traineeship, earn a wage for their time and efforts while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the process.
Students gain knowledge and experience in the industry which gives them a head start to achieving their career goals. They can earn while they learn and in the process can adjust to work environments which help build confidence.
