The WIN Program

The WIN Program was developed as a joint venture between Leeton area high schools and GetSet designed to engage with students who are considering leaving school for the workforce to start an apprenticeship or traineeship.

The program teaches students the skills they need to be job ready, understand what employers want, encourages interaction between local industry and students and gives them a close look at their industry of choice with an individually tailored work experience placement.

The students embark on their journey starting with a full day seminar that offers information the students need to prepare a resume, understand the importance of a cover letter, and participate in mock interviews. They finish the day with an employer forum where the students can interact with industry professionals to gain a better understanding of industries that interest them and allows them to make informed decisions around their work experience placements.

The final component is a work experience placement tailored to the individual student’s interests. Students are placed with an employer in a chosen field of interest, and spacing the work experience out over 10 weeks allows the student to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ins and outs of that particular field.

The student’s overall experience in the WIN Program helps them make informed decisions about their future and paves the way to obtaining a secure career and in turn, builds stronger communities.

If you are interested in participating as a host employer, please contact us and make arrangements.
